How long does freeze-dried meat last?
Sealed in cans with oxygen absorbers and kept cool, dry and dark, freeze-dried meats last 20–25 years. Once opened, use within a few months and reseal tightly.
Is the meat raw or cooked?
Every protein we feature is fully cooked before it is freeze-dried, so you are simply rehydrating already-cooked meat — no raw handling required.
How do I rehydrate it?
Cover with hot water (about equal parts), wait 10–15 minutes, then drain any excess. For soups and chili you can add it dry and let it reconstitute in the pot.
